The high-level study visit concerning Estonian experiences in implementation of the deposit system for packaging waste was held on November 23th, 2007 in Tallinn. The main focus of the study visit was to highlight the financial, organizational and operational aspects of the deposit system. The study visit programme consisted of meeting in the Estonian Ministry of Environment and visits to collection and counting centre of Eesti Pandipakend and recycling factory AS Plastitehas. On 20-22 November 2007, the RECO project was promoted in the International Ecological Fair POLEKO 2007. POLEKO Fair is the largest environmental protection trade show in Central Eastern Europe. The scope of RECO project, results of its implementation and future plans were widely presented to visitors from Poland and abroad. Photos from the event are available below.

The International Conference "From landfilling to incineration. Experience exchange concerning introduction of newest waste management systems" was held on September 20th, 2007 in Warsaw. The event was organized by Marshal's Office of Mazowieckie Voivodeship and brought together a number of experts from Poland, Sweden and Estonia.
The Conference agenda consisted of three modules as follows: International experience exchange concerning closing and reclamation of landfills, Organizational issues concerning construction of complex waste management systems, Regional Waste Management Plants - targets and good examples.

EKO-NEWSROOM is the section of POM-RECO website aimed at informing Polish partners of updates, developments and news regarding waste management. In the future we want the service to be co-created with its users.

The International Conference "Entrepreneurship for Waste Management" was held on June 4th, 2007.
The event was arranged within the RECO project and brought together a number of experts from Poland, Sweden, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus and Ukraine.
Keynote presentations were presented by Prof. Jana Hupka and Dr. Andrzej Tonderski.
The Conference agenda consisted of three modules as follow: Service Companies, Production Companies and Experiences. The analysis of the role of service companies in waste management systems as well as aspects of cooperation between services companies and municipalities were presented by Dariusz Matlak, President of Polish Chamber of Waste Management and Tomasz Ucinski, President of National Chamber of Waste Management. Witold Grzybowski, representative of Dolnoslaska Consulting Group described the law aspects and possibilities of cooperation based on Public-Private Partnership in waste management systems.
The second module was devoted to factors that determine the development of waste-friendly products. Experiences related to that issues were presented by Andrius Plepys, International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at University of Lund, Alexander Startsev, UNIDO North-Western International Cleaner Production Centre and Rūta Bendere, Waste Management Association of Latvia.
The third module consisted of the analysis of implemented solutions in European countries for particular waste streams. Harri Moora, Stockholm Environment Institute at Tallinn Centre presented the packaging waste management system introduced in Estonia. Zbigniew Milkiewicz, CCR Polska (ERP) presented law aspects and characteristic of management of waste electrical and electronic equipment. Jana Kivimägi, City of Tallin characterized municipal waste collection system implemented in Tallin. Jurgita Ulinskaite, Institute of Environmental Engineering presented hazardous waste management system in Lithuania.

Information exchange and awareness-raising event concerning the implementation of Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste was held on February, 27-28 in Gdansk. It is our pleasure to invite you to visit the international RECO project website www.recobaltic.com.

The Seminar "Alternative fuels as an energy source" took place in Gdansk University of Technology on January 9, 2007. The Seminar was organized by Foundation for Energy Conservation in Gdansk in cooperation with POM-RECO project staff. The Seminar aim was to present and discuss experiences related to production and combustion of Refuse-Derived Fuels.

The seminar was held on December 1, 2006. The major aim of the seminar was presenting the scope of documents describing the requirements for environmental planning documents as well as providing information on co-financing opportunities for environmental protection projects. The seminar was attended by representatives of Pomeranian municipalities.

Between May 30 and June 3, 2006 we took part in the Study Visit to Stockholm. All participants of the Study Visit were inspired by the Swedish waste management experiences and implemented solutions.

The Seminar was held on May 29, 2006. The main topic was related to management of waste and products containing asbestos. All municipalities from the Pomeranian Region were invited to participate in the seminar.
